‘I Felt Like This Is What I Was Searching For’

Starbucks just wasn’t cutting it anymore.

A year into launching her startup, Elam & Co.—a leadership development, training and coaching business—Brittany Sherell was used to driving to the coffee chain to plug into its WiFi and spend the day working. But she was already getting tired of having to fight for a table even before COVID-19 hit. She also needed someplace professional—not her home—to record leadership videos, a place she didn’t have to quickly tidy or rearrange.

One day at Starbucks, she was researching coworking spaces; theClubhou.se was one of the few options that popped up. “I literally picked up from Starbucks to go check it out,” she says.

As soon as she walked in, she says, “I felt like this is what I was searching for—a space to work outside of my home, where I felt safe and that also had the functionality of an office space. I wanted it to feel like a home away from home, and that’s exactly what theClubhou.se felt like.”

Today, with the dedicated workspace at theClubhou.se, Sherrell was able to grow her business to a new level with clients now worldwide.

She can often be found at one of theClubhou.se’s cubicles or standing desks, knocking out her list of action items for the day, using its printing services or enjoying the community and support of other theClubhou.se members. Or, she may have reserved a conference room for a client or team meeting or to record a training video.

Sherell left her full-time job as an educator with a background in special education to build her business. She was intentional about making connections to share her expertise in coaching and training leaders. theClubhou.se has been a foundational connection.

“With theClubhou.se, whatever you need, whether that’s training, access to equipment, access to space or community or insight, all of those things are encompassed in one place and it’s done so in a way that it’s accessible for even the newest entrepreneur on the block or if you’re further along the line or you’re a huge corporation,” she says. “They have ways to serve you, and I think that is the beauty of it. Just like in a classroom, you experience the most growth when you mix all of these parties. It creates a powerhouse setting.

“Plus,” she says with a laugh, “they have coffee. Good coffee.”
